The Gospel According to John 3:16-21
“God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the verdict, that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come toward the light, so that his works might not be exposed. But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God.”
Reflection: Christian or non-Christian. John 3:16, is most certain the most known Gospel scripture ever read or seen. You can find signs, in the crowds, in most professional sporting events. His word is most life-giving, penetrating, and able to discern the thoughts of the heart. It defines the biggest sacrifice that could ever have been made for the benefit of ALL of us. What would you be willing to give? What have you sacrificed lately? Do you give, at a bare minimum, one hour a week to God? How often have you thanked God for His gift?
Jesus himself came to suffer, He knew it was coming and yet He willingly walked directly into that sacrifice. And he did it for you, me and for all. The disciples all knew this would happen and yet they were thinking about themselves. Why should we be any different? Because we can see the end result of Jesus’ sacrifice.
Action of the Day: Make a new commitment to the one who gives us so much. To pray. Knowing that God will hear from heaven, He will hear every prayer. Pray that good will overcome evil and that it will come sooner than later. Pray that God will hear the cry of every lost soul facing a war that they didn’t want and come to their rescue. Pray for the overwhelming supernatural presence of our God Almighty in every corner of the world today. And never forget that “God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life. Amen? Amen!
